Timing it
We work backwards from the hour you need to be ready, not forwards from an arrival time. As a planning figure, a blow-dry is about 45 minutes, makeup about 45 minutes, and hair and makeup together for one person about 90 minutes to two hours depending on the style. An updo takes longer than a blow-dry.
If the event is in the hotel itself, you can finish considerably later than you would otherwise dare, because the journey is a lift. If you are going out, Avenida da Liberdade is downhill and Chiado is a short taxi ride.
Hair goes first and makeup second, so hot tools and hairspray never go near a finished face.
Around the spa, not instead of it
The hotel has a large spa with treatment rooms, a sauna and a vitality pool. That is a different thing from what we do, and the two sit together comfortably: a treatment in the afternoon, hair and makeup in your room before the evening.
Worth one practical note. If you are booking a facial or a massage on the same day, put it before the makeup rather than after, and leave a gap. Skin that has just been worked on does not take a base well, and oil in the hair from a scalp massage is a real problem for a blow-dry.
