Wedding hair and makeup in Lisbon

One senior artist for hair and makeup, at the place you are getting ready. Lisbon, Cascais, Sintra and the quintas outside the city.

Wedding hair and makeup in Lisbon, done where you are, in English, on a timeline written down before the day.

Most Lisbon weddings do not happen in Lisbon. They happen at a quinta in the hills behind Sintra, on a terrace above the sea at Cascais, on an estate an hour south of the river, or in a hotel suite in the middle of town. Getting a bridal party across the city to a salon on the morning of a wedding is the part that goes wrong. So the artist comes to you instead, with a full kit, and works in the room where you are already getting ready.

We cover Lisbon, Cascais, Sintra and the quintas outside the city. One senior artist does both hair and makeup, which means one look designed as a whole and one schedule to agree rather than two suppliers to coordinate. The consultation, the trial and the day itself all happen in English. No payment is taken to hold a date, and we reply within 24 hours.

The Process

From enquiry to wedding day

01

Tell us the date and the venue

The date, the venue, the ceremony hour and how many people need hair or makeup. That is enough for us to say whether the morning works and what it would cost.

02

Trial, if you want one

A dedicated session four to eight weeks out. We test the look, time it properly and adjust until it is right. Brides travelling in for the wedding often do the trial the day before instead.

03

A written timeline

Worked backwards from the hour you need to be ready, with a name against each slot. You see it before the day, not on it.

04

We come to you

Quinta, palace, hotel room, villa or terrace. The artist arrives with a full professional kit, works through the party in sequence and stays for the final check before you leave the room.

What a wedding booking includes

Hair and makeup in one booking

One senior artist does both, so the look holds together and there is one timeline to agree, not two. Hair first, then makeup, so nothing is disturbed by the hot tools.

A trial before the day

A full hair and makeup trial weeks before the wedding, timed as it will run on the day. Optional, and worth it if you have never had your hair put up.

A timeline, in writing

A schedule that keeps every member of the party on track, worked back from the hour the cars leave. One artist working in sequence means the order matters, so it is agreed in advance.

On location at your venue

Hotel suite, hilltop quinta, villa or seaside terrace. We arrive fully equipped, anywhere in Lisbon, Cascais, Sintra and the surrounding region.

Wedding guest hair and makeup

Not everyone who writes to us is getting married. A large share of wedding bookings in Lisbon come from the wedding guest side: guests flying in for a Saturday, mothers of the bride and groom, and bridesmaids who are booking and paying for themselves rather than joining the bride's booking.

It is a different job. A wedding guest usually wants hair or makeup, not both, in a hotel room in town, an hour or two before leaving for a venue somewhere else. The timing runs backwards from when the car or the coach leaves, not from the ceremony. We have written that up separately.

Wedding guest hair and makeup in Lisbon covers who it is for, what one artist can do for a group in a morning, and how to time it around a ceremony out of town.

Venues we have written up

Each of these pages describes the venue from its own public information, the travel time on a wedding morning, and what the setting does to hair. We are not affiliated with any of them and these pages are not endorsed by them.

Wedding hair and makeup: common questions

How far in advance should I book wedding hair and makeup in Lisbon?

Lisbon wedding season runs roughly June through October and Saturdays in that window fill first. If your date is more than a year out, write anyway and we will hold it. If it is inside six months, write today and we will tell you honestly what is still open.

Do you do hair as well as makeup?

Yes, and that is the usual booking. One senior artist does both. Hair goes first and makeup second, so the hot tools never touch a finished face.

Do you provide a trial before the wedding?

Yes, and we recommend one. Four to eight weeks before is ideal. If you are flying in for the wedding, the trial usually happens the day before, at your hotel, which also lets us confirm the room and the light.

Can you do the whole bridal party?

Yes. One senior artist works through the bride, the bridesmaids and the mothers in sequence, at the venue, on a timeline agreed beforehand. Tell us the group size when you enquire so the start time is realistic rather than optimistic.

What can one artist realistically get through in a morning?

As a planning figure: bridal hair and makeup together takes about two hours, and each additional person takes about 45 minutes for makeup or about 45 minutes for hair. A bride plus three attendants is a morning that starts early rather than one that needs a second artist.

Will it last through the whole day?

It is built to. Lisbon weddings run from a morning start to a late reception, often outdoors, often warm. Product choice and the way the hair is pinned are decided around that, not around how it looks in the first hour.

Do you travel to venues outside Lisbon?

Yes. Cascais, Estoril, Sintra and the quintas outside the city are routine. Venues further out, on the Setúbal peninsula or in the Alentejo, carry a travel supplement that we confirm in writing before you book.

Can wedding guests book separately from the bride?

Yes, and many do. Guests, mothers and bridesmaids often arrange their own hair and makeup at their hotel. See wedding guest hair and makeup in Lisbon for how that fits around a ceremony out of town.
